Nick Morgan Top Communication Theorist

Nick Morgan is one of America’s top communication theorists, coaches and authors. He teaches speakers the art of charisma, body language and great presentations. Whether you are in sales, manage others or are a parent…you are always presenting!

I was referred to Nick by a friend,  Gail Davis, http://www.gdaspotlight.com and when his book came out Trust Me: Four Steps to Authenticity and Charisma, I had to have it! In this book, Nick shares the challenge of presentations and recognizing your micro-expressions, subtle expressions that occur as fast as 1/24 of a second and typically hide an emotion.

Nick states, “Remember, every speech is two conversations, the verbal and the non-verbal, and you need to be in control of both. Because when they are aligned, you can be persuasive. When they’re not aligned, the audience believes the non-verbal every time.”

Nick Morgan | Recipe for Life

Although a popular consultant to politicians and business professional worldwide, we can all learn though from Nick Morgan of Public Words. See how he lives his personal “recipe for life”!

  • “Meat” of Nick’s successful recipe (main project with purpose): Nick Morgan’s life is extremely “meaty” because his day consists of coaching clients and writing about communications. He shares a wealth of information on his blog PublicWords.com. I’ve been an avid reader and follow Nick’s advice.
  • Nick works with some of the top CEOS and with presidents to write speeches that can be delivered clearly, passionately and with panache. Nick has written books on how to deliver speeches plus coaches speakers so his students deliver with charisma and change the world with their words.
  • “Spice” of life (adds fun and flavor): Between clients and writing, Nick has some interests that spice up his life. Playing guitar and piano as well as working on a novel. These are all pretty left-brained activities, so he enjoys hiking or watching the Boston Celtics for less cerebral activities!
  • “Complexity” of Nick’s “Recipe for Life” (the many facets of life): Nick and his wife Nikki work with authors/speakers to figure out their intellectual capital and what brand goes with that, the marketing that is needed and how to make it all work to grab the world’s attention!
  • “Nick’s recipe on a “budget” (financial comfort of having diversity in projects): Nick has been in control of his destiny since 1997 when he left a large consulting company and started his own business Public Words. Nick got his choice in business partners (his wife), a secure and successful business and now they have control over their own calendars!
  • “Binder” of Nick’s recipe (bringing it all together with balance and close relationships): I purchased Nick’s book and his dedication in the book was “To Nikki, even more than before” and it struck me. I went to his website and recognized a man with “heart”. When I asked him about his binder, he mentioned Nikki as his binder, business partner and confidant at the end of a long day. They have four grandchildren that get them back on track if work is ruling their lives.
  • “Health” of Nick’s recipe (self-care): Nick, an avid reader admits that he has searched the vast array of books for the ideal formula for health and wellness. Somewhere along the way he realized, fruits, vegetables and exercise happen to be part of the formula. He chooses to exercise at the end of the workday, separating the end of the day and beginning of his evening.
  • “Nourishment” of the recipe (makes life full and satisfying): Wine, a great relationship and engaging with multi-generational family. Nick enjoys reading sword and sorcery novels. He likes to stay ahead of his nephew in the Young Adult category and make the reading recommendations.
